On October 10, 2024, GM Energy announced the launch of the GM Energy PowerBank, a stationary energy storage system that allows electric vehicle (EV) owners to store energy from the grid or integrate with solar power equipment. The PowerBank, available in 10.6 kWh and 17.7 kWh options, can power homes during outages or help reduce electricity costs during peak demand times. Combining two PowerBanks can provide 35.4 kWh of energy, enough to power an average home for up to 20 hours.

The PowerBank is part of the GM Energy Home System, which includes a PowerShift charger and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) Enablement kit. It is compatible with solar energy setups, with GM referring customers to preferred installer Qmerit for assessments and installation.

GM Energy’s ecosystem, accessible via GM’s mobile apps, aims to provide EV owners with enhanced energy management, integrating renewable energy and offering flexibility through modular energy solutions. For more information, visit gmenergy.gm.com or contact your local Wheelers!
